Damp problems—whether rising damp or lateral damp—can wreak havoc on homes and buildings, leading to unsightly damage, peeling paint, mould growth, and even health risks. Moisture-filled walls also reduce insulation, making interiors colder and less energy-efficient.

At Damp Check, we provide long-lasting damp-proofing solutions by removing contaminated plaster and treating the underlying substrate to stop moisture at its source. While this process can be invasive, our expert team ensures a smooth, hassle-free experience, with minimal disruption to your home or business. Trust us for professional, effective, and permanent damp-proofing solutions across South Africa.

Rising Damp Treatment Process

Expert Damp Proofing with Minimal Disruption

At Damp Check, we provide permanent damp-proofing solutions by removing contaminated plaster and treating the original substrate to stop moisture at its source.

While this process can be invasive, our highly trained team works with precision and professionalism to ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience. We prioritise clear communication, keeping you informed every step of the way.

We also take great care in protecting your home or workspace, covering floors, furniture, and surrounding surfaces. Once the treatment is complete, we fully restore all finishes, including skirtings, plug covers, and painting—leaving your space as good as new, without the damp.

1. Protection

Cover and protect floors, paving, furniture, windows, and other surfaces.

2. Plaster Removal

Remove contaminated plaster to expose the underlying brickwork or concrete.

3. Damp-Proof Course Installation

Inject a specialised silicone chemical at the base of the wall to prevent further moisture from rising.

4. Waterproofing Application

Apply a cementitious waterproofing slurry to the exposed brickwork, sealing the damp while allowing moisture to escape as water vapour.

5. Plastering

Apply a waterproof and salt-retardant plaster to reinforce the treated wall.

6. Finishing Touches

Restore all finishes, including skirtings, plug covers, Rhinolite, and painting, leaving your space looking as good as new.

Rising Damp

The Hidden Dangers

Rising damp is more than just an eyesore—it can cause serious structural damage, reduce property value, and impact your health. If left untreated, moisture seeps into walls, leading to long-term deterioration.

Aesthetic Damage

Peeling paint, stained walls, and a damp, uninviting appearance.

Property Devaluation

Homes and buildings affected by damp are harder to sell.

Poor Insulation

Damp walls trap cold, making interiors colder and increasing energy costs.

Mould Growth

Creates musty odours and can trigger respiratory issues.

Structural Damage

Causes skirtings, carpets, and wooden surfaces to rot, while metal door frames and electrical fittings may rust.

Don’t let rising damp compromise your property—Damp Check provides permanent solutions to keep your home or business safe and dry.
